Impressions Of Africa
Blending the magic of authentic African styles and instruments with the emotional power of film music, these tracks enable you to both give a sense of the regions of Africa and underscore the mood of your narrative. The album is arranged by regions of Africa, and featured instruments, including: Kora harps (West Africa, Mali, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea, Burkina Faso); East African harps; Talking drums (West Africa); Balafon (the African marimba, found across West African and Central Africa), hocketting flutes (Central Africa); musical bow (Southern and Eastern Africa, and known in Brazil as the berimbau ); and thumb pianos (mbira, kalimba, likembe, sanza, etc. found across Africa). The collection covers both traditional music and pop styles, e.g.: Congolese soukous and East African pop with their cascading guitar melodies, Nigerian Highlife, and Southern African kwela music and township jazz. Each featured instrument or style contains a variety of moods and stings.
